I suggest that the best time to make a life story legacy video is around retirement. The process of thinking about retirement forces one to reflect on their personal and professional lives and to think forward to the future without their professional identity. And often the future focus is on family, friends, and personal interests. Life story videos are about both reflection and the future. Too often we are consumed during earlier years with raising children and work. Upon retirement we must think about who we are and what we want out of the time we have left.

Tomorrow is not promised to any of us, so maybe even waiting until retirement is too long. There is no reason one cannot make a series of life story legacy videos at various stages in one’s life.
